Brian S. Yost became one of the Jebaily Law Firm’s four partners in January 2020, but he’s felt like part of the close-knit team since he first began working here in 2013.
“It’s a true family dynamic,” said Yost, who handles the firm’s workers’ compensation cases. “We fight like a family. We celebrate like a family. It’s a good fit for me. I’m not cut from corporate cloth. Like families often do, they just accepted me for who I am, and I guess I was able to add value.”
Yost is the first lawyer in his family. He earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina and served as a judicial law clerk for Twelfth Judicial Circuit Judge Thomas A. Russo before joining Jebaily Law Firm.
Yost sincerely identifies with his clients. “Most of the people I represent are people like in my family,” he said. His father is a former West Virginia coal miner and schoolteacher, and his mother worked in data processing for a television station.
He attributes his interest in law at a young age to his inquisitive nature. “I always question everything,” he said. “I don’t debate, but I’m the kind of person who doesn’t take no for an answer. I kind of let experience teach me.”
When not at the office or in court, Yost enjoys spending time with his wife, Katrina, and their two children, as well as exercising and fishing.
Although becoming partner grants him additional responsibilities to the longstanding firm, which has served the Pee Dee region since 1969, Yost said he feels honored.
“It’s humbling,” he said. “I really appreciate being able to do what I do. I feel very blessed.”
